This post is copied from the MOCKZN forum. This is another Mk1 interior trim related thread. This time I'm going to focus on the famous Mk1 S bucket seats for a bit and then include some pics of original floor trim. Throughout the production of the Mk1 S, there were different renditions of the bucket seat trim. Some with a combination of lighter grey and porcelain green trim, some just plain porcelain green. I've heard from a couple of people that Mk1 S bucket seats had dark green piping like this (below). The seat in the pic below is a restored one however, so I'm not sure how accurate a reproduction it is of the original. If anyone has pics of originals with dark piping to share, please do.  Here's the version found in an unrestored 1071 from 1964 (below 2 pics). This one has a greyish front pad. The back panel of the seat (out of view) is also a light cream-ish grey colour.   I've also seen covers in early '65 1275 S that looks exactly the same as the 1964 1071 S above .  It seems like somewhere between early '65 and mid '66 there was a change in design: The next one is from a late '66 1275 S. It is plain porcelain green all around.   I've had this last one reproduced by Newton Commercial for my mid '66 S. The colour is pretty close, a bit darker than the faded original. I have to say the Newton covers are excellent quality and fit very well.  |
